My Journey with Photography: Capturing Moments in Time

Photography has been my lifelong passion, a creative outlet that began when I was young and has shaped my life in countless ways. My first memory of photography is tied to a slim, brown, point-and-shoot camera with a satisfying click-and-wind mechanism. The film was tiny compared to what we use today, but it sparked a love for capturing the world around me.

In middle school I upgraded to a Cannon. It was still simple and basic; point and click. We went camping every summer and you better believe the camera was always coming with me.

In middle school, I upgraded to a slightly better Canon point-and-shoot camera. It was simple but perfect for my adventures. Every summer, my family went camping, and my camera was my constant companion. Whether it was a fleeting moment in nature or a candid family snapshot, I was there, ready to freeze it in time.

High school brought a new chapter when I joined the yearbook class. I was in my element! Armed with a school-issued camera, I had the freedom to design pages, write articles, and capture the essence of our school’s story. Those moments behind the lens taught me how to see the world differently, finding beauty in the everyday.

After graduation, I explored different jobs, searching for something that felt like me. My favorite? Working at a one-hour photo counter in an Eckerd Drug store in Georgia. I got to develop photos from all over, glimpsing into other people’s lives through their images. That job inspired me to save up for the best camera available at the time. I’d wander the city, experimenting with settings and angles, honing my craft. Some of those early photos are still so special to me—you can even find them in my shop today!

To me, photography is more than just taking pictures; it’s a way to travel back in time. A single image can transport you to a moment, rekindling the emotions tied to it. It’s not about physically reliving the past but about feeling it in your soul. I’m thrilled to share my passion for capturing these fleeting moments and hope my work inspires you to see the beauty in your own memories, and in nature. The world around us holds so many small details we miss when walking by.

Thanks for joining me on this journey! Check out my shop to see some of my favorite captures, and let’s keep freezing time, one photo at a time.
